If you have a brand new Smart Oil Gauge and a mesh router (e.g. Orbi or Eeros) that requires our Alternate Setup Method, you will need to put the device into WiFi mode. In this mode, the device will broadcast its own WiFi network called ccf***********. The password to connect to this network is smartoil.
To enter WiFi mode, hold the button down for 2 seconds. The red light should flash once every second once it is in WiFi mode. If it is blinking three times per second, it is in WPS mode. Turn the unit off and try again.
We've found that on the newer units, holding the button down any longer than 2 seconds bypasses WiFi mode and puts the unit into WPS mode.
To ensure the unit gets into WiFi mode, count "One-one-thousand-two" while holding down the button. You should see the red light flash once per second, and then be able to find the ccf******* WiFi network. If you are not seeing the red light at all during this process, you may need to reseat the batteries.
